After performing a recent software update for Mac OS X Leopard, a new utility from Apple was added into the Utilities folder of my installation of Mac OS X (10.5.2). The software was first introduced by Steve Jobs during his keynote presentation at MacWorld Expo 2008. It enables a user to install Apple’s latest operating system without the need for having physical media inserted into the target hardware. The easy to use utility was released for the purpose of allowing MacBook Air users to install Apple’s operating system from a remote source computer. You can find this new utility in the Utilities folder, typically found under “Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities”. The name of the utility is Remote Install Mac OS X.
