Details:
A user needs to type more than one page of text in Microsoft Word. However, text on the bottom portion of the paper appears to disappear as soon as it is typed. That is, text does not flow from first page onto subsequent pages. If you look at the bottom portion of the document, the status bar indicates that there is only one page available for viewing.

Problem:
Even though the user has typed more than enough content to fill more than one page, the Print Layout view in Microsoft Word does not display more than one page of text. In any other view, Microsoft Word properly displays the full text.

Cause:
Special formatting such as HTML can prevent a page from displaying properly in Print Layout view. For example, the user may have copied a portion of text from a web page that possibly contained multiple columns.

Resolution:
Remove unnecessary formatting from the document. In Microsoft Word 2003, use the option “Reveal Style Formatting”. In Microsoft Word 2007, use the “style inspector” to reveal any special formatting. In this particular case, the user typed all their text in one column that exceeded page border boundaries.

Comments:
The user had initially copied text from a web site, then pasted it onto a new Microsoft Word document. They modified the text as needed but kept the original formatting which contained multiple columns.
