Changing the Default Save Option in Microsoft Office 2007 Applications

For Microsoft Word 2007
1. Open Microsoft Word, then click on the “Office Button” (located on the upper-left hand corner of the application)
2. Click on Word Options, then select the category “Save” (located on the left hand side)
3. Click on the drop-down menu labeled “Save files in this format”, then select Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc) (or another file format of your choice).
For Microsoft Excel 2007
1. Open Microsoft Excel, then click on the “Office Button” (located on the upper-left hand corner of the application)
2. Click on Excel Options, then select the category “Save” (located on the left hand side)
3. Click on the drop-down menu labeled “Save files in this format”, then select Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls) (or another file format of your choice).
For Microsoft PowerPoint 2007
1. Open Microsoft PowerPoint, then click on the “Office Button” (located on the upper-left hand corner of the application)
2. Click on PowerPoint Options, then select the category “Save” (located on the left hand side)
3. Click on the drop-down menu labeled “Save files in this format”, then select PowerPoint Presentation 97-2003 (or another file format of your choice).
For other Microsoft Office applications such as Project and Visio 2007
1. Open Project (or Visio), then click on Tools
2. Select Options, then click on the Save (or Save/Open) tab
3. Click on the appropriate drop-down menu to select a default file format.
