Last year apple had the battery recall and they gave me a new battery.
At the time the previous battery post no problem to me but I returned it anyway since they recalled it. The latter battery they gave me is DEFECTED; it has all of the problems listed on their website right now. The reasons that they gave is that the warranty does not cover for it; that is dumb since the battery is connected to the macbook pro. Another reason is, the serial number is different, however, if it's defected they should give an exchange since they gave me a crappy product!

My friend was also one of the first few people to purchase an Intel-based computer. However, she's having difficulty convincing the staff at the "Genius" Bar about Apple's battery replacement policy. After noticing the symptoms that you describe above, she visited an Apple Retail Store here in California. The genius at the bar told her that her Intel Core Duo was no longer under warranty. She still needs to replace the battery, but they want to charge her for the replacement. Hmmmm... very different than what the statement says on

http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/

I have advised her to contact Apple Technical Support over the phone so that she could hopefully talk with a more knowledgeable person.
